Rebound Rumble
Rebound Rumble is played on a 27 foot by 54 foot field where two alliances face off against each other. The main objective of the game is to score as many points as possible in the 2 minute 15 second round. The first 15 seconds of the match is called the Hybrid mode. The remaining 2 minute period is the Teleoperated period (Teleop) in which robots have to shoot basketballs into the hoops.
The match starts with a 15 second Hybrid period in which robots can be either controlled by players motioning to the Kinect or by following pre-programmed instructions. During the Hybrid period there is a 3 point bonus for any basketball that goes completely through any of the four basketball hoops. During the Teleop period human drivers then step up and control the robot. Each side of the court has four hoops at three different levels. The lowest level is one point, the middle level is two points and the highest level one is three points.
At the end of the match robots can choose to try to balance on their alliance bridge. If one robot balances then 10 points is added to the match score, if two robots are balance then 20 points will be added, and if three robots are balanced in qualifying matches 20 points are added and during elimination matches it is 40 points. Alternatively robots can choose to balance on the coopertition bridge in the middle of the field. If two robots, one from each alliance, are able to balance on the bridge then those two teams will receive two coopertition points that will help in qualification. If they are unable to balance but both robots are on the bridge then each team will receive 1 coopertition point.
