The Bobcat's Mission Our Product Is People
We work to inspire tomorrow's STEM leaders and engage them in activities that build leadership, self-confidence, and effective communication skills. This is achieved by spreading the message of FIRST through community involvement, competitive spirit, and Gracious Professionalism. Success for us has been and always will be seeing progression in our students’ knowledge and problem solving skills inside and outside of the classroom. As our founding mentor Al Mothersele used to say, "Our product is people."
Mechanical and Design
This team is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and assembling the robot. We use OnShape as our CAD software, enabling a more collaborative design process. Students and mentors manufature the designed parts at South Windsor High School's machine shop, making use of our plasma cutter, CNC mill, lathe, and other machines.
Controls and Programming
This team is in charge of designing and building pneumatic and electrical systems for the robot, using the latest electronics components from various FRC vendors. This team also develops and tests the code that controls the robot during the match. The team currently programs the robot in Java, using the WPILib framework.
Marketing and Business Administration
This team establishes and maintains relationships with sponsors along with maintaining a balanced budget. They organize community outreach events and team fundraisers to both increase awareness of FIRST and the team. They work to develop and update the website, social media, apparel, and team videos.
